It’s already started

Ok so the new iPhone firmware won’t let you install 3rd party applications and people like Jack are running stories that it is so disappointing and that it is time to put the iPhone in the draw.

It is exactly this mentality that proves he really does not understand technology. As long as companies try to restrict access to products there will always be those that will work to break those restrictions.

I said it before and I will stand by it that the iPhone will be opened by Apple, eventually. Apple will get sick of fighting the hackers and will give up.

As far as his statement that Microsoft does it better. If you call poor memory management and soft resets of devices to keep them going doing it right then you are an ass! Jack is that why you have to carry two devices so you always have a backup when one locks up!

Well I suppose he has to say that in order to keep his MVP. This is first and foremost to him and, honestly, this is where he looses all credibility. Holding on to his MVP status is more important than being honest with his readers.

It is sad to see that some people don’t have the balls to stand up for what they think is right.  For them it is more important not to rock the boat then tell it like it is. These are the folks that you know have an agenda and you should take what they have to say for what it is worth. Nothing!

BTW I do agree that you would be disappointed if you had bought an iPhone. It means that you would have to pull your wallet out and actually pay for something.

Full disclosure finally

It was nice to see Leckness tell everyone how he gets his stuff and what he does with it. Unfortunately he will continue to do un-boxing. But what the hell they are good for a laugh.

At least he does not have the attitude that if he reviews something he should get to keep the unit for spending time reviewing it. Sound familiar Slick!

T-Mobile updates Sidekick cell phones

T-Mobile USA is updating its Sidekick cell phones, adding a high-end model and the first Motorola-built entry in the line of slide05 quirky gadgets with a screen that swivels to reveal a keyboard.

The new luxury model, the Sidekick LX, has a screen with more than twice the resolution of the previous top-of-the-line model, the Sidekick 3. Criticism of the low screen resolution has dogged the line, which still has found a home among young people who like to communicate by text message.

The LX will go on sale online Oct. 17 for $300 with a 2-year contract, T-Mobile USA said Wednesday. The cheapest current Sidekick, the iD, costs $50.

Could Apple Be Breaking the Law With Policy On iPhone Unlocks?

Slashdot is reporting that “Apple’s recent decision to void warranties for folks that unlocked their applenew1 iPhones may wind them up in legal hot water. The site Phone News points out that Apple appears to have broken a key warranty law relevant to SIM unlocks. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a law decades old, would seem to prevent Apple from voiding warranties in the way it is threatening to do with the iPhone, or so the site argues. ‘The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act states that Apple cannot void a warranty for a product with third-party enhancements or modifications to their product. The only exception to this rule is if Apple can determine that the modification or enhancement is responsible [for] damaging the product in question … The legal [questions are]: Is the SIM Unlock process that has become mainstream doing damage to iPhone? And, also, is Apple designing future software updates to do damage to iPhone when said SIM Unlock code is present?'”

Interesting!
