Mobility Today Meet Up

I am sitting at the bar at the Cheesecake Factory in Burlington MA. with Dave Ciccone.  We have the T-Mobile Dash, Samsumg Blackjack, and new Palm Treo along with a couple of large glasses of Blue Moon ale. What more could one ask for. Good friends, great gadgets and cold beer. I have to say that we are truly experiencing mobility.

Making the jump to Vista

I have been running Vista for quite some time on one of my machines. I have run the betas and all the release candidates and have been running the RTM version for a while. I think that it might be time to start using Vista on my primary machine. Everything is not 100% yet but I think that it is close enough to start using full time.

Let’s see what happens.

Portable Power Station – Battery Geek

It looks as if we are going to get some snow tonight and possibly a Nor’easter at the end of the week. That means I need to charge up my Battery Geek Portable Power Station. The nice folks over at Battery Geek gave me one of these units to evaluate some time ago and it has really gotten a work out. This device allows me to charge all of my portable devices and is a must have if you travel or live in an area that tends to loose power in the winter, such as the Northeast.

The power station powers any device from 3V~28V. It features built in variable voltage selection from 3V,5V,6V,9V,12V,16V,19V,21V,24V,28V. Packed with power at 140WH Capacity. Features a power off button to conserve charge  when not in use and a built in USB port which outputs 5V. It also includes a large variety of tips to choose from.

The device is small enough to fit in your backpack yet powerful enough to charge multiple gadgets and will even run your laptop. I ran my HP laptop for 4 hours on this device.

I recommend this for anyone who has multiple gadgets and needs extra power. IF you want to lean more about this device check out the review that Dave Ciccone did on this product over at Mobility Today.

For more information on the Portable Power Station and all of Battery Geek products visit the Battery Geek website here.

Telling it like it is

I really enjoy reading Mobile Phone Fan. Unlike a lot of other sites that are out there this guy tells it like it is and plays no favorites. I know this style rubs some people the wrong way but it is good to know the truth.

Here are a couple of examples: Post 1  Post 2

He raises some interesting points.

Whether I agree with him or not I have to respect the fact that he is telling like it is.

So head on over and check out the Mobile Phone Fan

New iPod at Superbowl?

iProng is reporting that rumors are beginning to circulate that Apple will announce the much desired wide screen iPod at the Superbowl. This version will not have the phone or wifi options of the iPhone, but will offer the touch controls and accelerometer of the iPhone. It is also being rumored that this may be a Beatles special edition iPod.

No bloggies for you

The nominations for the 2oo7 bloggies are out and Engadget was not nominated in any category this year. Some of the other  blogs out there are already whining about this. Hey, get a life!  The award really doesn’t mean anything so why get all worked up about it.

I don’t read sites based on what awards they get. As long as they have the content I am looking for and they are honest with their readers, I’ll be a repeat customer.

Passports made easy

I have to give the U.S. Government credit. They have made getting a Passport an easy and fast process. I had to get a new passport so I filled out the form online snapped 2 photos with my digital camera and headed over to my local post office to be processed. The whole exercise including drive time took 25 minutes. Not bad at all. I was even surprised to hear that I should get my new passport in about 3 weeks.
